In the name of Allah, the Compassionate Source of All Mercy
I know. I know. It's been a while since we've put out our latest zine'. Why? Well, it's two things. One was a baby boy; the other was a baby girl. As such, those who work on the zine' had their hands full. When diaper duty calls, you have to answer.
Well, we've been working on the second issue of our quarterly endeavor. Judging from some of the responses that we've gotten, you liked our first issue. We're trying to improve ourselves on a daily basis, so you will see a few changes in the format of the 'zine. There will be more to come in the future. The information will remain intact, but the "look" of the 'zine will change. Some concerns included the page layout. We were trying to go for that "magazine" look. We goofed. The last thing we want is for our readers to get corporal tunnel syndrome scrolling up and down the pages!
Another concern was our ability to keep up such a heavy load of information. Well, we're trying. The need to give our readers good, solid articles to read is important, but we're also a quarterly 'zine. Up to date worldly news would be too difficult for us to present. What we do want to do is slowly expand so as to give you what's going on in the lives of Muslims today.
As I was gathering information for this quarter's zine', I saw a theme: parents and children. It wasn't planned; it just sort of fell together. It's not surprising. More than ever, we are seeing the need to fix the relationship between children and their parents. We hope that some important issues are address and that our writers have provided good Islamic solutions.
