Reading and Literature Tenth Grade

    In keeping with the advanced reading needs of the upper grades, reading selections must begin to become thought provoking and include glimpses of higher concepts and ideas.  At this age and above, in non-Muslim schools, the students are reading novels by well known authors, Western classics and contemporary fiction and non-fiction.

Tales from the Arabian Nights Edited by Andrew Lang Wordsworth Classics.  ISBN: 1-85326-114-9 Although some Muslims frown on this collection, it was standard literature for a thousand years in the Muslim world.  Many of the stories are positively delightful.  The teacher will choose the good stories and discard the others.  Remember, Aladdin and the Lamp and other famous stories come out of this.   Find the gems!
