  Subject: Growing up

  Rating:  5 stars

Growing up is never easy. As simple as that sounds, it is the truth. Many of our young Muslim children are falling prey to many temptations. These "temptations" are not just limited to our teen population. They are also pushed upon our younger children as well.

Burhaan Khan is a young Muslim American boy who has to contend with the everyday trials of being a Muslim . What is great about this book is the manner in which the lessons are presented. It lets the reader know that sometimes problems come from outside forces, like in the story "Says Who?" and sometimes the problems are within ourselves, as in the story "A True Warrior."

The six easily readable tales run the gamut in presenting not only problems but solutions as well. Topics like cousins who don't follow Islam and dealing with a bully are addressed in a very straight forward and sensitive manner.

What better way to show proper conduct in Islam than through the eyes of a young boy who's living it: Burhaan Khan.
