The Holy Qur'an in Today's English
Project: To produce a translation of the Qur'an which is accessible to modern English speakers using language styles and grammar which are appropriate for communicating the message of the Qur'an.
What resources will be in the printed book? There will be an exhaustive index, glossary, study guide, overview of the Sirah, maps and tafseer. The tafseer will be drawn from classical sources, recognized and accepted modern scholars, ahadith and the opinions of the Sahaba.
How will it look? We plan to publish it in black leather with gold edged pages. The paper will be of fine quality appropriate to the presentation.
Who is publishing it? When this foundation completes the work, it will be published by our friends at ICNA.
Who is involved? The main people involved in the project are: Yahiya Emerick and scholars associated with ICNA.
How far is the project to completion? The initially completed manuscript is finished, alhumdulillah, and the wok has been submitted for review by ICNA. (It weighs in at 790 pages in MS-Word!) Br. Jerald F. Dirks and his wife, Debra Dirks, have also reviewed the entire work - twice.
