Main
Focus: To build upon previous grade levels in building a
basic level of comprehension in Arabic. Further practice in the
rules of Tajweed and in the principles of correct understanding of
literary devices in Qur'anic Arabic.
Learning
Abilities: At this
level, students will be able to do independent work with minimal
instruction.
Formats to
Avoid: Do not
structure the class into a lecture format with a lot of note-taking or
pencil work. Do not make memorization of words the main focus of the
instruction.
Preferred
Format: Oral drills
coupled with practice exercises are a must. Grammar can be practiced
in simple dialogues.

Arabic Knowledge Requirements
1. Introduce the present participle tense of verbs.
2. Know more basic vocabulary including working knowledge of ten new verbs and ten new
nouns that are drawn from the Qur'an.
Verbs: Chosen by the teacher.
Nouns: Athzab: punishment, plus twenty more chosen by the teacher. Consult ahadith
and Qur'anic Surahs for your choices.
3. The plural for doubles (adding aiyn as in Mashriqaiyn- the two easts.)
4. Introduce twenty other plurals of nouns. Talib: Talaab, etc...
5. Other information taught in the textbook will be the requirement of this
grade.
