Translations/Commentaries

1.  The Qur'an.  Translated by Muhammad Farooq-i-Azam Malik.  A very lucid and free-flowing translation.  I find that it's easier to read fluidly in this translation that in many of the others that use archaic English.  There are frequent misspellings and grammar mistakes but the overall free verse flow is highly appreciable.

2.  The Message of the Qur'an. Translated by Muhammad Asad.  Available from IBTS.  This is a very scholarly translation which has very copious tafseer.  This is actually my preferred translation when it comes to deeper study.

3.  A Thematic Commentary on the Qur'an.  Muhammad Al Ghazzali.  A contemporary tafseer by a modern day Egyptian Sheikh that is perhaps one of the most relevant commentaries for the modern world that we have seen.  Available from Astrolabe.
