Isabella: A Girl of Muslim Spain

The market for Islamic novellas is very rare, if not non-existent. Many of today's teenagers are taught the "classics" of the American and British writers in their schools. They are told that these writers all but "corner the market" on what good literature is supposed to be, until now. Make way for a novella that is sure to become a classic in its own right: Isabella.

The story seems simple enough. A young girl, Isabella, in Muslim Spain wants to learn more about Islam after hearing two Muslims speaking in a garden. What could go wrong? Plenty. How about a heated debate between Islam and Christianity, an angry priest who wants to send Isabella to a convent, a violent kidnapping and a small conspiracy to over throw the (Islamic) government for starters?

This book is fast paced and a great reading experience. Now, while it is unfortunate that Muslim students do not have the opportunity to read Islamic literature in school, giving Isabella to a teenager at home is a great way to get them to read the classics, Islamic classics.
