1.  The Confession of Al Ghazzali.  Translated by Claud Field.  Available from IPI.  An excellent exploration into the struggle between our heart and our nafs.  Al Ghazzali writes of his own struggles with rote learning and taqleed and how he emerged with a new vigor and strength of Eman.

2.  Anecdotes from Islam.  By Ebrahim Khan.  Available from halalco.  An excellent anthology of historical material that shows the wisdom of Islam being enacted by individuals throughout Muslim civilization.  I get a lot of stories to use in my khutbas from this book.

3.  The Remembrance of Death and the Afterlife.  Imam al Ghazali.  Translated by T.J. Winter.  Available from IBTS or Astrolabe.  This book will change your life.  Need I say more?

4.  Jewels of Remembrance.  Rumi.  Available from Astrolabe.  Stunning poems on life, faith and love of the next life.

5.  The Bounty of Allah.  Aneela Arshad.  An inspiring collection of verses from the Qur'an arranged alongside hadiths and poems.  Available from Astrolabe.
